Ramadan is the time of the year when all Muslims around the world want to make the most of it. This month is like a healing day that nourishes your soul, your body, and your mental health.

So many Muslims want to know the best Ramadan routine starting from fasting to doing prayer and other activities they should do during Ramadan. But whatever the case you have to prepare yourself first physically and spiritually for Ramadan.

Ramadan should energize our souls and spirits instead of slowing us down. The essence of Ramadan is patience, steadfastness, perseverance, and struggle. It shouldn’t affect our routines much.

But following an organized Ramdan routine will be very beneficial to get the most out of this month. There is no one more unfortunate than the person who got Ramadan and fasted Ramadan but could not get rid of his sins.

And he who observes the holy month of Ramadan and observes its limits properly is free from sin as if he had just been born from his mother’s womb. So if you want to have the best Ramadan routine this year, the following steps are for you:

1. Do the traditional Ramadan routine every year

Usually in Ramadan, you wake up before the start of Fajr to have Suhoor (predawn meal). Or you can simply stay up late and eat before sleeping. You can also stay after Suhoor to pray Fajr and read a portion of the Quran before you go to sleep.

Also, make sure to do prayer in time, and sitting for a while after each prayer structures your thoughts about the holy things. And once the sun goes down, it is time for Iftar with your family.

2. Make sure to have plenty of rest

First of all, you’re not supposed to be physically productive during Ramadan. There’s plenty of Hadith that mentions bosses should ease work on their workers, and other people should work a little less.

Then, sleeping is also a prayer during Ramadan. Sleeping through the day and staying awake at night, even not for spiritual reasons, is perfectly fine.

Especially when the day is so long you can’t endure it any other way. I have seen many Islamic countries where all businesses are open from Dusk to Dawn in Ramadan.

3. Don’t eat too much at iftar and stay hydrated

Eating too much food during the iftar is one of the Ramadan routines you should avoid. Instead, try to eat healthy food with a sufficient amount and make sure to drink a lot of drinks.

As in Ramadan, you aren’t allowed to drink anything from dawn until dusk, so it is important to have plenty of drinks between iftar and Suhoor.

You can drink a maximum of 1-1/2 glasses of water during suhoor, why? Because you will continuously need to go to the bathroom while you’re trying to sleep afterward.

4. Performing Taraweeh in Mosque

Usually, The first Taraweeh is performed on the last day of Shaaban which is in this year. You will have to pray the Isha prayer first followed by Tarawih.

The Taraweeh is a prayer consisting of Two Rakah each 1 Tarawih, and just like any other prayer you have to read Al Fatiha and then recite the Quran ( small portion), and also the in the other Rakah.

Now you see, you can do this all night but most mosques stick to 4–5 Tarawih per night, which makes a total of 8–10 Rakaat with 2 rakah for each Tarawih.

It’s preferred to pray Al witr Salah after Taraweeh, most of the mosques in do this in Makkah. Taraweeh is not an obligatory prayer, but if added to your Ramadan routine will be the best choice you’ve ever made.

5. Try to be more generous and charitable with the community

You can be generous in general not only in Ramadan but being charitable and generous is one of the best Ramadan routines you have to try.

Also, you don’t need to give money to others to apply this routine: a single smile or some kind words can be enough. In other words, try to be the best copy of yourself you can be.

For example, try to Walk into any Mosque you see. In any Mosque, you’ll see people waiting for Iftar and different fruits and dishes ready for them.

This food it’s either sponsored by someone or the expenses is afforded by the Mosque for which in turn the money is donated by the Muslims.

So try to be more charitable in Ramadan as much as possible, you will not help the needy people. But you will be awarded for such acts.

6. Spend some time in remembrance of Allah

The month of Ramadan is the month of countless and superabundant blessings of Allah; which are readily available to the fast observers in this holy month.

The blessings there-in are incomparable to any other month and by the remembrance of Allah, we can thank Allah for all these blessings.

So don’t get overwhelmed by life, and make remembrance of Allah your Ramadan routine. Also, remember that Ramadan is the month of renewal of one’s connection with Allah.

7. Seek the forgiveness of Allah in Laylat al-Qadr

The Quran tells us to seek it on the odd nights of the last 10 nights of Ramadan. It is thought to be on the 27th night, but no one knows for sure except God Himself. Muslims spend the night praying, supplicating, reciting the Quran as a Ramadan routine, asking for forgiveness, and doing charity to please Allah.

The night of Majesty ( Laylat al-Qadr) is indeed a unique and rare opportunity given by Allah to every fast observer in this great month. Thus, let’s take full advantage of it with supplications, invocations, prayers, and other acts of worship.


Following the previous seven steps for the Ramadan routine, makes you closer to Allah and your soul will be clear. It’s Ramadan, the best month of the year, and your chance to be clear from any sins from the last year and the following one, so try to make the most of it as much as possible.
